If you owe money to somebody else and receive a Letter of Demand from a solicitor, it is probably best to pay the money, unless there are other issues which require the initiation of legal proceedings on your behalf. If a Statement of Claim has been lodged against you it would be best to contact a lawyer as soon as possible in order to prepare a response. You can then choose to negotiate a payment, or you can choose to defend the claim.
