Australian Securities Investment Commission (ASIC)

What is ASIC?

ASIC is Australia's corporate, markets and financial services regulator. It is an independent Commonwealth Government body set up to carry out work under the Corporations Act.

What kinds of complaint can ASIC deal with?

In summary ASIC can deal with the following complaints:

  • How companies are managed by directors and officers

  • Companies which continue to trade while unable to pay their debts

  • Takeovers or a company restructure

  • Misleading or deceptive conduct in advertising or selling a financial product or service, and

  • Misleading or deceptive conduct to do with borrowing money.

If you are experienced any of the above problems, or have other concerns, we can help you:

  • By speaking directly to the decision maker on your behalf

  • By applying for a written statement of reasons regarding the decision

  • Get an independent review

  • Apply to the AAT

  • Apply to the Commonwealth Ombudsmen

  • Start litigation on your behalf.

If you need to initiate any of the above proceedings we can advise you on the best way to do so. Complete and submit the Express Enquiry form on the top right hand side of this page and we will contact you to discuss your enquiry or call us on 1300 QUINNS (1300 784 667) or on +61 2 9223 9166 to arrange an appointment.
